Wolters Kluwer introduced its CCH Tagetik ESG & Sustainability Performance
Management platform to help drive corporate financial and environmental, social, and
governance (ESG) performance and compliance. The platform offers unified insight to help organizations drive their sustainable growth strategies.

CCH Tagetik ESG & Sustainability is designed to accelerate compliance for SASB, GRI, EU Taxonomy, and other regulatory frameworks and standards by using extendable and prebuilt processes to collect and evaluate data; the platform then automatically generates ESG reports for disclosure. Beyond compliance, users can leverage the platform to develop integrated plans and scenario analyses. By including ESG data in financial and operational planning, organizations can extrapolate insights to identify ESG opportunities, cost savings, and risks.

Trends that support the launch of CCH Tagetik ESG & Sustainability include the US
SEC Climate Rule (already announced) and the EU Taxonomy (taking effect in January 2023), which both require companies to disclose their ESG-related operational and financial risks. These pending regulations are creating pressure on corporate financial and compliance professionals to get up to speed on nderstanding and addressing enterprise ESG requirements.

Thomson Reuters and Wolters Kluwer tie as winners given their breadth and depth of
solutions in this field. The domain expertise used to drive their respective financial
reporting solutions can be drawn from their respective legal and regulatory businesses. These two providers have demonstrated knowledge share between regulatory intelligence — Multi-GAAP requirements, Solvency II, Lease Accounting, EBA reports, IFRS disclosures, and now ESG requirements — and compliance, effectively spearheading the convergence between legal and GRC.

The laggards are the pure-play solutions providers of connected data and reporting
automation across finance, accounting, risk, and compliance. While their holistic
approaches to risk and compliance management continue to be effective, they could fall short during a time of increased regulations because they possess no regulatory
intelligence businesses to help keep up with their compliance capabilities.

Wolters Kluwer and Thomson Reuters will continue to expand their ESG definitions and methods of assessing ESG compliance to align with the latest sustainability regulations. The gathering of insights on corporate practices in ESG will likely come in two flavors: structured and unstructured. Structured data refers to metrics of corporate practices (e.g., the number of female executives or board members), while unstructured data covers reported news on corporate practices (e.g., articles detailing violations in carbon emission levels).

Workiva, CoreFiling, and Trintech will look at ways to best include ESG reporting in their existing platforms. With the recent introduction of the US SEG Climate Rule, other financial reporting agencies throughout the world will likely follow suit. With the EU Taxonomy slated to take effect starting in early 2023, it is feasible that the remaining global markets will follow suit within the next five years. Having customers across the globe, these three providers are potentially looking at aggressive timelines to add ESG reporting capabilities in addition to their core support of Multi-GAAP, EBA, and IFRS requirements. To accelerate this development, Workiva, CoreFiling, and Trintech may need to seek partnerships with ESG data and service providers to ensure continuity in client support.

research, credit scoring, third-party risk and compliance screening, and now financial
and operational compliance. Information providers looking to offer ESG insights in
support of financial and operational compliance management could benefit from the
following actions.

Mind the Convergence of Legal and Compliance. Among other regulated fields, ESG is becoming an indispensable component of enterprise risk and compliance management. The role of the in-house legal staff has been to ensure regulatory awareness, while that of the in-house compliance staffs has been to ensure that financial and operational measures adhere to the regulatory requirements.

With solution providers like Wolters Kluwer offering end-to-end support, from regulatory insight to compliance measures, the lines between legal staff and compliance staff now blur. Organizations must recognize this solution-driven convergence to better assess how their staff could best benefit from a new era of intelligence.

Return to the Office

The return to the office continues to be a hot topic in the industry. It is being influenced by a variety of societal factors, including the drive for competitive advantage, ongoing and evolving pandemic concerns, and economic considerations such as inflation and fuel costs.

Companies are implementing a variety of strategies in this area. A hybrid approach, such as requiring employees to return to the office for two or three days a week, seems to be becoming the norm. In some cases, this includes flexibility for employees to choose the days of the week, preferably with them working together to coordinate their in-person days to facilitate collaboration.

In others, companies or team leaders may mandate specific days when people are expected to be in the office. One business we spoke with is requiring all employees in its main office to be back in the office on three specific days starting next month, chosen by the company and applicable to all.

Wie macht ihr das? – Öffentliche
und wissenschaftliche Bibliotheken im Dialog

 

Vom 21. bis zum 23. Juni 2022 bietet sich auf der WissKom2022 die Gelegenheit zu Querschnittsthemen beider Bibliothekssparten spannende Entwicklungen in Vorträgen zu verfolgen und danach vor Ort zu diskutieren. Das Kernthema der 9. Konferenz der Zentralbibliothek des Forschungszentrums Jülich, 2022 in Kooperation mit der Zentralbibliothek der Stadtbüchereien Düsseldorf, lautet: Wie und was können Bibliotheken voneinander lernen?

Die Vorträge geben einen Überblick und detaillierten Einblick in Themen verschiedener Bibliotheken. Dem „Lessons learned“-Gedanken folgend, und somit einen Austausch über die Darstellung der eigenen Aktivitäten und deren Feedback anregend, können sich die Teilnehmenden der WissKom2022 zu folgenden Themen weiterbilden:

Informationswissenschaft im Wandel

 

6.-7. Oktober 2022, Düsseldorfer Konferenz der Informationswissenschaft – Informationswissenschaft im Wandel, im Haus der Universität Düsseldorf –
Organisiert von der Abteilung für Informationswissenschaft Düsseldorf – Unterstützt durch den Hochschulverband Informationswissenschaft.

Hierzu laden wir Sie herzlich ein und rufen zum Mitmachen auf.

Thematische Schwerpunkte der traditionellen Informationswissenschaft sind beispielsweise Archiv- und Bibliothekswesen, Suchmaschinen und Fachdatenbanken. Mit neuen Technologien und Informationssystemen, sowie dem gesellschaftlichen und kulturellen Wandel und neuen Herausforderungen rücken thematische und methodische Veränderungen in den Fokus, beispielsweise Themen wie Open Science, Infodemie, Digitale Bibliotheken, Wissenschaftskommunikation, Künstliche Intelligenz (insbesondere Maschinelles Lernen), Virtuelle Realität und Social Media. Wir freuen uns über praktische und theoretische Beiträge aus allen Fachgebieten der Bibliotheks- und Informationswissenschaft. Mögliche Themen, jedoch nicht darauf beschränkt, sind:

Die Einreichungen sollten originales Material enthalten und nicht anderweitig publiziert oder eingereicht worden sein. Die akzeptierten Beiträge (Full-Paper, Poster und Panel) werden in der HI-Schriftenreihe Informationswissenschaft (Werner Hülsbusch Verlag) veröffentlicht. Zusätzlich werden die Beiträge über Zenodo erreichbar sein.

Die Publikationen sollen auf Deutsch eingereicht werden. Wenn Sie
einen Artikel auf Englisch publizieren möchten, kontaktieren Sie uns bitte. Mögliche Publikationsarten sind die folgenden: 1. Full-Paper (max. 10 Seiten ohne Referenzen) – 2. Poster / Extended Abstract (max. 2 Seiten ohne Referenzen) + Poster für den Ausstellungsraum – 3. Panel (max. 4 Seiten ohne Referenzen).
